State Police: Distracted Driver Crashed Into Vehicle Multiple Times On I-81 In Cumberland Co.

A distracted driver was responsible for a crash along Interstate 81 on Friday around noon, according to Pennsylvania State police.

While driving in the right lane of I-81 South in Cumberland County, a Jeep Renegade was hit on it's passenger side by a Ford Escape that attempted to merge when there was no space available in the lane.

The side mirrors collided, but the vehicles regained their lanes and continued.

The driver of the Ford was visibly on a cellphone and remained on her phone for the duration of crashes, according to a statement made by the victim to PSP.

The vehicles hit and scraped together at least two more times before the driver of the Jeep stopped in the traffic lane and went on foot to a nearby PSP vehicle to report the incident.

Both vehicles remained on the scene near mile marker 42.7 and no injuries were reported.Both vehicles were drivable.

The names of the people involved have not been released.

It is unclear if charges have been filed against the woman driving the Jeep while on her cellphone.
